Bedtime stalling tactics – I need the loo

Anyone who has raised a child past the age whereby they enjoy going to bed and enjoy going to sleep, will probably have encountered various stalling tactics used by their little one to avoid accepting defeat.

Tonight’s favourite is that of telling me that he needs the loo. I expect this one to get used more and more regularly as we start the transition away from nappies.

For now I’m pleased that he is expressing the desire to got on the potty, and understands what it is for, but when he starts his hundredth rendition of wheels on the bus st full volume, including full actions, and is making no attempt to do the deed, it’s a tough gig to keep a calm head and a smile… I just have to remind myself it’s only a phase, it will pass, and he will (eventually) go to sleep tonight!
